After 12 months of supporting The Alzheimers Society as our Charity of the Year, we’re delighted to confirm that Morpeth based non-for-profit organisation, MS Research and Relief Fund, has been appointed our Charity of the Year for 2017\/18.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
MS Research and Relief Fund<\/strong>\u00a0(MSRRF) is a\u00a0UK registered charity (No.228634) that aims to improve the quality of life of all people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (or\u00a0MS).<\/p>\n MS is a chronic disease of the central nervous system that affects more than 100,000 people in the UK and is the most common disabling condition among young adults.<\/p>\n MS can affect a person\u2019s mobility, their independence and their confidence, and can also the change the lives of their partners, families and friends.<\/p>\n MSRRF<\/strong>\u00a0provide a range of services to help people whose lives have been affected by\u00a0MS. In their\u00a0seven centres and outreach groups across the North East of England, we provide complementary therapies and gentle exercise, completely free of charge to people with MS and their carers.<\/p>\n Nationally, they also offer grants for aids and adaptations or respite care, provide advice and information services and support research into MS and its treatments.<\/p>\n They\u00a0receive no statutory funding, so rely entirely on donations to provide their\u00a0services.<\/p>\n Mark Burdett, Sales & Marketing Director at NC Insurance had this to say about working with\u00a0MS Research and Relief Fund<\/strong>\u00a0(MSRRF):<\/p>\n “My dad died of MS when he was just 39 years old so on a personal level, being able to help MSRRF means a great deal to me. I’ve been to their\u00a0Benmar House centre on a few occasions in recent months and seeing the excellent work they do makes me want to promote their services and raise as much awareness & money for them as possible over the next 12 months & beyond.
